BRETT WOODWARD

Brett co-founded Bluefield Development and is also Managing Partner and co-founder of Charleston, SC based Blue Current Investments. Over the past 20 years, Brett has completed numerous real estate developments throughout the southeastern US, from Mississippi through the Carolinas and Florida.

Prior to founding Blue Current Development, Brett held senior positions with the I’On Company, Barkley Fraser Commercial, The Greenbrier Sporting Club and Twin Rivers Capital.

While with the I’On Company Brett developed a 750-unit mixed use project and helped to create and manage the I’On Guild (preferred builder program) and oversaw the construction of single family homes.

Working for DPS Development in a joint venture with CSX railroad, Brett helped develop The Greenbrier Sporting Club.

After attending the University of Georgia, Brett joined the US Navy where he was forward deployed to Atsugi, Japan and provided helicopter support for the Joint Forces in the Middle East and surrounding theatres of operation. After his departure from the Navy, he pursued his real estate career.

Brett, his wife and two children reside in Charleston, SC.

DANIEL SOMMER

Daniel co-founded Bluefield Development and is also Managing Partner and founder at Charleston, SC based Whitefield Capital. He has 18+ years experience in international real estate investment and development in both equity and debt structures.

He completed acquisition and development projects with a total volume of over $980M in both Europe and the United States.

Prior to founding Whitefield Capital, Daniel was Managing Director of Real Estate at Altriarch Capital and Vice President at Dallas based International Capital focusing on the Texas and Sunbelt markets in multifamily, retail, mixed-use and land development projects.

Before moving to the United States, he was Managing Director and Head of Asset Management at an $800 million Irish investment firm focused on European markets.

Daniel started his career working at the United Nations Organization in Geneva, Switzerland working on international export focused programs for developing countries.

He holds an MBA from International Institute, Geneva, Switzerland and a BA from Portobello College, Dublin Business School, Ireland.

Daniel lives on Daniel Island, SC with his wife and their two children.

ERIC LEINEWEBER

Eric co-founded Bluefield Development and previously joined Blue Current Investments as a Principal in 2009. He brings over 25 years of commercial real estate experience.

Since 2009, Eric has completed over 70 ground up development and redevelopment projects in SC, GA, MS, and FL.

His experience encompasses client relationships, site selection, lease negotiations, feasibility, due diligence, site planning, budgeting, entitlement, finance, land acquisition, project management and construction oversight through the disposition of varying asset classes.

Eric began his real estate career directly out of college with Maxwell Properties, an Atlanta based grocery store developer. He then oversaw a 2.5 million square foot retail portfolio with Spectrum Realty Advisors (now Colliers).

Eric moved to Charleston in 2004 to join Twin Rivers Capital as a Development Partner completing dozens of ground up projects before making the transition to Blue Current Development.

Eric lives in Mount Pleasant, SC with his wife Nancy and their three children.

DENISE THERIAULT

Denise joined the team in 2014 after owning and managing a general contracting firm in Connecticut for over 20 years.  Since joining, she has managed several retail and restaurant developments along the southeast coast, Mississippi and Alabama.  Denise’s proactive management style brings passion for building and a strong work ethic to each and every project. 

In addition to project management, Denise actively manages BCD’s commercial and residential properties in South Carolina and Florida with expertise in tenant retention, asset improvements, and lease administration. 

She holds a BS in Business Administration, is a SC licensed Realtor, and a member of the National Association of Realtors.
